Voting Republican
Reasons to vote Republican on November 7:
1) You are a white male
2) You earn more than $200,000 per year
3) You believe the Iraq war is "winnable"
4) You see abortion and infanticide as the same thing
5) You are a member of the NRA
6) You think that religion and politics do mix
7) You support lowering taxes in a time of war
8) You approve of pork barrel spending
9) You have a confederate flag bumper sticker
10) You feel sorry for Mark Foley
If you can associate yourself with three of these categories then go ahead and vote Republican.

Honestly I have nothing against the NRA, per se. I'm not a member but I do support "gun rights" - by which I mean non-idiotic gun rights such as the right to own handguns, rifles and shotguns. There's really no reason to own automatic weapons, assault weapons, hand grenades, flame throwers, etc. That's probably why I'm not a member.
The other stuff I do not support. (Except being a white male. I support people's gender and race, regardless of what it is.)
How do we define "winnable?" Typically, broad buy-in from a citizenship is needed for a fledgling government to take hold. Oh well. http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,223381,00.html
1. Hmm...some of my very good friends are Republicans and Republican politicians also. Some very educated--one's obtained his Phd from Princeton--valedictorian, others not so. Wrong color though.
2. Ok, I'm listening.
3. I can't speculate--I have not obtained my omniscience yet.
4. We have friends who just had a baby daughter at 30 weeks. We went to visit them at the NICU--the baby was precious. Today I spoke with the father and it has been moved to an open air crib and is doing splendid. While I was there we visited with a black couple whose baby was born at 23 weeks. The child had been there for several months and was now in an open air crib and was expected to do just fine. He was very cute--a full head of black curly hair and very intelligent eyes.
5. I am. Most "leftists" should be, because when they decide to fight this war against "fascism" and "tyranny" that they always speak of, well... I guess they will have to use pitchforks. Of course I think many of them are just talkers who lack the courage to take any real stand.
6. No, I believe that many of our politicians have abandoned true morality, true religion and principle. That is the reason vice abounds.
7. When 50% of what one makes (except for those below the poverty level) goes to taxes, one would have to be soft in the head to having taxes raised. What, do we want more war? I don't get it.
8. No.
9. No, but I wouldn't mind having one, nor do I mind people displaying an image that has been prostituted by some, misunderstood by others. Any avid historian would be unafraid to proudly display one.
10. I honestly do. Anyone molested by a child and who turned to homosexuality as a result deserves both our sympathy and prayers.
But...there are only two Republicans on the ballot I intend to vote for, no Democrats (In South Carolina many Democrats run as Republicans to get votes--the Democrats who run as Democrats are waaay out there...:) and various and sundry third party candidates. No, I won't be voting for Lindsey Graham (He's not running this election anyway).
Regards,
-Jack
P.S. Can I do a corresponding "Voting Democrat" just for fun?
Great response Jack. You make me laugh. Please do a "Voting Democrat" and I'll post it up. Just respond here and I'll delete it from the comments and make a new post.
Mochi,
Truth to tell, I grew discouraged with the Republicans a long time ago. They left their creed--wanted to become everything to every one. Of course, you also received my impression of the Bush Administration, and know I can't really stand by them either (even though I often play advocate)
Are we all going to be voting for losing third party candidates this year?
-Jack
P.S. I'll do one for Democrats, but I don't think it will be as creative as yours. You have a gift in saying much with few words--something I am still trying to learn.
I will be voting for Christy Mihos for governor, even though Deval Patrick has already won. Mihos should get, oh, about 7% of the vote, maybe. Kerry Healey is running on a platform that Deval Patrick was an outstanding defense attorney and got his clients' sentences reduced. How about blaming terrible prosecutors? I mean, she is a "career criminologist."
And by career criminologist, she means she taught one semester at some 4th tier college.
I will not be checking off anyone's name for US Senator. Kennedy* will win because he is Kennedy. I know nothing about the other guy. This "race" hasnt received the time of day.
Other than that, there is nothing exciting about Democrats taking over. I mean, I could say, hey at least they arent the Republicans we have now. But what does that say?
*I am still bitter about Kennedy's involvement in the murder of Marilyn Monroe to cover his brother's affairs and for leaving a women to die in a river. What a guy.
Thats right I said it: involvement in the murder of Marilyn Monroe.
But I also believe that we never landed on the moon. So whatever.
