Not a great week for the Republican party...

I thought the Catholic church had a monopoly on pedophile scandals. I never realized being a congressional page is analogous to being an alter boy. I guess anywhere you find a bunch of old white men claiming the moral high ground you are bound to find a few NAMBLA members. Mark Foley should face criminal charges and the GOP leadership should face the consequences for trying to cover this up. Hastert should be the first to go.

Bush released a report he claimed would show the public that Iraq isn't such a bad place after all. Instead it backed up everything the New York Times reported. The war has made us all less safe. As we have been told "freedom isn't free" apparently it costs 400 billion and a new terrorist breeding ground.

Al Qaeda distributed a home video of the 9/11 terrorists having a great old time at Osama's retreat in Afghanistan. Another reminder that Iraq is a distraction we really can't afford.

Finally Bob Woodward released an insightful book that the White House described as "cotton candy". Cotton candy must be code for a fact-ladened book written by a non-biased investigative reporter. After all his last 2 books were supportive of the administration.

Assuming the Democrats have a spine November should be a cake-walk; but that is a big assumption...

Hi Mochi!

Remember the riddle, "would you rather be eaten by a lion or a bear?"

I like our choices--The Republican Party who decided that after being put in power they would forget their creed abuse their power and act like big government Democrats, and the Democrat Party who is just the other dog struggling for control of the bone.

Either way, one would have to be brain dead to endorse either.

Mochi,

I haven't found out a lot about Foley because I haven't had a chance to watch TV. What is the issue? Isn't what he did just basically the same as President Clinton? If so, is this a big deal to Democrats and the left, because it wasn't back then.

Thanks,

-Jack

Getting a consensual blow job from an adult and soliciting sex from a child are a little different where I live.

It is a pretty messed up situation. And it is ugly, because Republicans supposedly knew about it for some time. The man obviously has a mental problem. If the Democrats win in November, its because the Republicans have abused their power and been a disgrace for quite some time now. Not because Democrats have been that good at anything.
Alluding to Rep Foley doesnt make them better at turning things in the country around.

One thing- House Speaker Nancy Pelosi- scary. When was the last time we actually had a good speaker of the house?
