Changing leadership not enough

Although the resignation of Michael Brown is a positive first step, it does not address the fundamental issue that was a contributing factor to the delayed FEMA response. The president needs to pull FEMA out of the Department of Homeland Security, increase its budget, and promote the agency to the cabinet level.

I don't know if the President has the power to do that, Mochi. The President has no administrative agency control. That comes under the jurisdiction of Congress and it was Congress who put them there in the first place. If you and others believe this, you may want to contact your Congressmen about this.

If George Bush wants to make FEMA a cabinet level entity I'm sure congress will make it happen.

Mochi, given the screwed up way the Republicans and the President work right now I would say you're right. Anything the Prez wants he gets...

BTW, NL's, have discovered a new blogger to the scene. Ya'll drop in and visit him. He characterizes himself as "left leaning", and Smorg and Shea I think you guys have a lot in common.
