Actors should act

Tom Cruise is a psychiatry professor, George Clooney is at the G-8 supporting Bush's plan for African aid and Janeane Garofalo is the liberal voice Fox turns to. Not a day goes by that a celebrity isn't touted as an ambassador, leader or expert. It's great that actors have an opinion but I'm sick of them being touted as the people we should turn to for knowledge on everything from AIDS in Africa to global warming.

Celebrities run the real world, while television offers "reality," Schwarzenegger governs California, republicans make political heroes of him, Reagan, and Charlton Heston while at the same time howling about the "liberal Hollywood elite." Howard Beale was right.
