Yipee a Muslim state
Thank Allah we spent so much blood and money in the middle-east to form a sectarian state identical to Iran. How does the administration spin an overwhelming victory for pro-Islamic state Shiites in Iraq? Civil war and fragmentation of Iraq into 3 autonomous regions now seems the most probable outcome.

Sounds like democracy at work!

Oh, that's what they meant by spreading democracy. I'm glad we finally know. And so are the Iranians.
The hypocrisy here is overwhelming. First there's the complaining about how the U.S. is just installing puppet governments and building an empire. Now that an actual democratic election has taken place (wait - this is the third that's taken place!), here comes the complaining that you don't like the results of the election.
What is it about democracy that you don't like?
I dont think its hypocrisy as much as its concern for the imminent outcry of it not being the democracy envisioned. That will be a funny argument when its time. The point of this was to put in a democratic government as we saw fit, that which would benefit us the most (you dont really think our leaders care about the Iraqi people, do you? They hardly care about their own). A democratically elected sectarian state likeable to Iran, if it happens, is definitely not what was envisioned- thats a backfire.
Sean - "What is it about democracy that you don't like?"
LOL! We don't have the right to complain!? What is it about free speech you don't like? Your government just bankrupted the country to overthrow Iraq, and the only reason they had left that had not been shot to hell was to "spread democracy", so now they elect an Iranian-style theocracy in what will probably be the last democratic election they'll have until the republicans go to war against them again!
We love democracy. What is it about success that you don't like?
Oops. At least the rape rooms are closed.
Saddam Hussein's are, anyway.
Who said you don't have the right to complain? You didn't answer my question. They voted, their government will contain religious elements, maybe even a majority of them. How does that make it less democratic?
Yes, I think it would be a shame for the Iraqis to implement an Iran-style theocracy. But it would, of course, be their choice.
And yes, it is hypocrisy. Now you are advocating that the U.S. should have installed a friendly government when all I usually hear on this site is how terrible the U.S. for its imperialistic ways. That's hypocrisy.
